Green Acres solar project was approved during the Board of Zoning Appeals
NCRE is pleased to announce that the Green Acres Solar project was approved during the October 24th Board of Zoning Appeals hearing in Henry County. The new 5 MWac project will be located on approximately 45 acres of disused land along Oak Level Rd in Bassett, VA.
Tim Barker, technical manager for NCRE presented proposed project during the meeting, outlining the development process and site layout. The project was well received in the county, which replaces a decommissioned golf course with a clean source of income for the community. The project follows Henry County regulations, and natural woodland buffering will be retained and installed between the security fence and adjacent nonparticipating property and the road right-of-way, prior to the operation of any solar equipment.
The project will be constructed in the first half of 2021, and once completed will generate more than 11 million kilowatt hours of clean energy per year, equivalent to the consumption of nearly 5000 homes.
